Monkey Haven

Discover Kikokwe’s hidden gem, where lush cliffs and bushland provide a sanctuary for playful monkeys, rare wildlife, and vibrant birdlife. From Black & White Colobus to Vervet monkeys, these creatures thrive in the natural haven surrounding Kwa Simba B&B. As dusk falls, bush babies call, adding magic to the air.
We’re committed to preserving this unique ecosystem by protecting more land, ensuring wildlife continues to flourish. Stay with us, soak in the beauty, and be part of the conservation effort—where nature and community live in harmony.

Building a School Kitchen

Nourishing Young Minds

Just down the road from Kwa Simba, we joined hands with the community to build a kitchen for the local primary school, ensuring students receive a daily meal. For many children, this meal is vital—it fuels their learning, growth, and well-being. This project, made possible through collective effort, is more than just a kitchen; it’s a commitment to the future. We continue to support its sustainability, believing that nourishing young minds is just as important as preserving our land and wildlife. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Kindergarten Foundation

A Brighter Start for Little Ones

After several village meetings, a clear need emerged—a kindergarten close to home, so young children no longer have to walk an hour each morning to school. With the help of local mothers and dedicated community members, we have laid the foundation and begun building.
This project is a labor of love, and step by step, we are bringing it to life. With continued support, we aim to create a safe and nurturing space where the youngest members of our community can learn and grow.

Protecting Our Ocean, One Bottle at a Time

Plastic pollution is a growing threat to our coastline, swell the rest of the world. The fishing communities depend on it, therefor we act local. We’ve launched an awareness program in Kikokwe, working with local schools, ferry operators, and fishermen.
Through beach clean-ups, educational songs for children, and eye-catching posters and t-shirts, we’re fostering a culture of responsibility and care for our ocean. Every small action counts—together, we can keep our waters clean and our communities healthy.

Wooden swing in sandy garden at Kwa Simba accommodation. Transforming reclaimed wood from old african dhow boats into playground structures

Playground

Learning Through Play

Children learn best when they play, explore, and create. To support this, we’re transforming reclaimed wood from old dhow boats into swings and playground structures, giving new life to forgotten materials.
We’ve also started collecting items to be used as learning tools, encouraging outdoor education on the school grounds. By combining play and discovery, we’re nurturing the next generation in a fun and inspiring way.

4×4 Restoration

Reviving Classics, Empowering Youth

We rescue worn-down classic Land Cruisers and Land Rovers, restoring them with expert mechanics while training young apprentices from Kikokwe Village. Once fully operational, these vehicles are rented out for safari adventures, making the garage a self-sustaining initiative that preserves history and creates opportunities.

Reimagined Creations

Sustainability in Design

At Kwa Simba, we believe in giving new life to forgotten materials. With the creativity of our designer Wieke and the dedication of our team, we transform discarded items into beautiful, functional pieces. Old dhow sails become soft cushions, weathered boats find new purpose as furniture, and coconut fibers are crafted into unique lighting fixtures. By sourcing and repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste, we celebrate sustainability, craftsmanship, and the rich history of our coastal surroundings.

English Classes

Empowering Through Education

At Kwa Simba, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. That’s why we offer daily English classes, open to our staff and the surrounding community in Kikokwe. These classes provide valuable language skills, enabling personal growth, enhancing communication, and creating opportunities for both work and connection. By fostering a supportive learning environment, we aim to bridge language barriers and empower individuals to engage more fully with the world, all while strengthening the bonds within our local community.
